Scaffold

An investigation of the failure of a temporary scaffolding structure in high winds. Again, this involved interpretation of the British Standard for Wind Loading (which does not specifically cover this type of structure), visits to site, calculations of wind speed from meteorological data and some wind tunnel testing to confirm the failure mode and failure wind speeds. This culminated in the preparation of a report detailing our considered view on the likely sequence of events and the contributory factors leading to failure. This case did go to court on a Health & Safety prosecution and expert witness evidence was given.
